## 10 Cookies and Trackers

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar tools, like browser storage and tracking pixels, work the same way. This section lists every one sellence.com uses, what it is for, and how long it stays.

### Your Choice Comes First

- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you choose. A banner offers Accept all, Reject all and Customize. Nothing beyond the essentials is stored until you accept.
- Everywhere else, analytics and advertising are on by default. You can turn them off at any time.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising: Google Ads cookies stay off and the LinkedIn Insight Tag does not load.
- We find your region from the country of your IP address, which our hosting provider (Vercel) reports to the site as a two-letter country code. We do not store your IP address for this. If the country is not available, we use your browser's time zone.

### How to Change Your Choice

- Cookie Settings (footer of every page) opens a panel with separate switches for Analytics and Advertising. Essential storage is always on.
- Your Privacy Choices (footer of every page, next to the opt-out icon) opens the same panel with an “Opt out of sale/sharing for advertising” switch.
- When you withdraw consent or opt out, we stop the LinkedIn Insight Tag right away and delete the analytics and advertising cookies set on sellence.com, so Google Ads cookies stop at once. Google can still receive the cookieless signals described under Cookieless Signals Before a Choice below. Cookies that Google or LinkedIn set on their own domains are controlled by them, and you can delete those in your browser settings.
- You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

### What We Use

| Tool | Purpose, storage and duration |
| --- | --- |
| Sellence consent Essential | Remembers your cookie choice and your region for the visit. Stores: sl_consent (browser storage: your choice, its version and the date), sl_geo (browser storage for the visit: a two-letter country code), and sl_debug (browser storage, only when a site test link with?sltrack=1 is opened). How long: sl_consent until you change it. An acceptance is asked again after 13 months. sl_geo until you close the tab. sl_debug until a?sltrack=0 link clears it. |
| Google Analytics 4 Analytics | Shows which pages are read, which sections are seen and which buttons are clicked, so we can improve the site. Stores: _ga, _ga_RVWP9ZNB5G. How long: Up to 2 years. |
| Google Ads Advertising | Measures whether our ads lead to demo requests and booked meetings, and lets us show our ads to past visitors. Stores: cookies _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw when you arrive from an ad, plus _gcl_ls (browser storage, a copy of the ad click id) on sellence.com. Google also sets cookies on its own domains: IDE and test_cookie on doubleclick.net, and GCL_AW_P on google.com, googleadservices.com and doubleclick.net. How long: _gcl_au and _gcl_aw 90 days. _gcl_ls stays in browser storage until you clear it or opt out (we delete it then). Google's own cookies follow Google's policy. |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag Advertising | Measures whether our LinkedIn ads lead to demo requests and booked meetings, and builds audiences for our LinkedIn ads. Stores: li_fat_id and li_giant cookies (when you arrive from a LinkedIn ad) and li_adsId (browser storage, a LinkedIn ad measurement id) on sellence.com, and bcookie, bscookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, li_sugr and __cf_bm on linkedin.com. How long: li_fat_id 30 days, li_giant 7 days. li_adsId stays in browser storage until you clear it or opt out (we delete it then). LinkedIn's own cookies up to 1 year, per LinkedIn's policy. |
| Campaign source (Sellence) Advertising | Remembers how you first found us (campaign tags, ad click ids, referring site, landing page) so a demo request or booking is credited to the right campaign. Stores: sl_first (browser storage), sl_last (browser storage for the visit). Stored only with advertising consent. How long: sl_first until you clear it or opt out. sl_last until you close the tab. |

### Cookieless Signals Before a Choice

We use Google Consent Mode. When analytics or advertising is off (before you choose in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, or after you refuse or opt out), Google Analytics and Google Ads still receive basic signals without cookies: that a page loaded, the consent state, a timestamp, the page address and browser information. Two of these go to Google Ads. First, a page view when a page loads. Second, if you send a demo request or book a meeting after refusing advertising or opting out, a measurement signal with the name of that action (demo_request or meeting_booked) and a Google Analytics client id. With analytics off, that client id is a random number made for the page and not stored. With analytics on, it is the pseudonymous id in the _ga cookie. Google uses these signals to model how many conversions our ads led to, in aggregate. They carry no ad click id (it is removed) and have ad personalization turned off.

No advertising cookies are read or set for these signals, and Google uses them in aggregate to estimate site traffic and ad results. Ad click ids may be carried in page links between our pages instead of in cookies.

We update this section when we add or remove a tool. The date at the top of this policy shows the last change.
